Do you agree with the title?

Do you believe leadership is easy?

Do you believe I am an idiot for even saying such a thing?

Let’s explore the title together.

“Leadership Is Easy.”

Do you see it?

L. I. E.

Now, do you agree?

If you truly believe that leadership is easy, I would be curious to know what others think of you as a leader.

Most people have heard the old saying, “You can’t lead others if you can’t lead yourself.” How many of us have discovered that leading ourselves is extremely challenging? Especially if we hold ourselves to the same standards in which we hold others.

If we offer an honest look back on the end of each day of our leadership lives, I believe we can all agree that we could easily identify errors in our thoughts, actions, or inactions. If you can’t find ways to improve, I’m willing to bet those you lead can provide some “helpful” recommendations.

When we clearly see faults within our own leadership skills, why do we expect others to be flawless? You may be thinking, “Well, if they are in charge (or “paid . . .), they should be held to a higher standard.” Who knows? You may be right. But what about the standards being placed on you?

Sharper Leader:

Is the standard we hold others to something achievable or just something to strive towards?
