Be Better

I believe most people wish something was better. Some want everything to be better. People wish their family, job, friend group, neighborhood, government, or world was better, but it’s not. Everyone wants to make changes, but how many are willing to change themselves?

We can change everything in our lives, but if we don’t change ourselves, we may end up with the same results. Instead of waiting on everything else in our lives to improve, we need to be better ourselves.

Jim Rohn said, “If you don’t like how things are, change it. You’re not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life.”

Too many people believe they must change the people or the circumstances around them for things to be better. That’s rarely the solution.

How often do we watch the same stuff, listen to the same messages, and complain with the same complainers, only to wonder why everything is “so bad” and not improving? In The Question Behind the Question, John G. Miller said, “If we have not changed, we have not learned.” If your situation is the same or worse now than when you first started complaining, you need to ask yourself, “What do I need to change?”

In Own Your Past Change Your Future, John Delony said, “If you want to change your thoughts, you have to be intentional about letting the old ones go.”  Have you ever thought about how your thoughts of the world around you are impacting how you see it? Which ones do you need to try letting go of?

According to Akbarali H. Jeta, “Often we change jobs, friends, and spouses instead of ourselves.” Is that you? If so, do you eventually find yourself just as frustrated with the new situation as the old one?
