Which is easier for you: finding the best in the worst situations, or the worst in the best situations?
Some folks seem incapable of “looking at the bright side.” They say they are just being “realistic” or “not living in la-la land.”
When we find ourselves constantly frustrated with the world around us, it may be time to examine how we choose to perceive and describe the world around us.
In reality, there will always be something negative, especially when looking for it.
Negativity. Pessimism. Doubt. Criticism. Do you believe that every one of those can be overcome by approaching your daily life with gratitude?
How often do you display gratitude?
Do you believe you have nothing to be grateful for?
Start small. Are you grateful that you can read? Okay then . . . keep reading.
If you aren’t a naturally grateful or positive person, start with these suggestions:
· Write down one thing you’re grateful for today.
· Read it aloud.
· Each day this week, add something new to your list.
· Keep reading it aloud.
Gratitude, like any of your other muscles, becomes stronger and better when used. If you want your life to be better, make gratitude your new habit and see how the world around you improves.
Sharper Leader:
1. Which do you do more often: express gratitude or frustrations?
Action Step: Today, verbally express gratitude for any and everything you’re grateful for.
2. Do you want to be more optimistic, or does that feel fake to you?
Action Step: Try expressing gratitude every day this week, and see what happens.
3. Who is the most grateful person you know?
Action Step: Ask them about the frustrations in their lives and see if they share without showing any gratitude.
