Time For Change

by Scott Harper

“If you don't like how things are, change it. You're not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life.”

Jim Rohn

I know you didn’t ask, but I have some helpful advice for you!

Most people are not ready to receive it, believe it, or act on it.

Are you?

Too many people believe they are helpless or incapable of doing the necessary things to have the lives they want. . . That’s not the good news.

If you read the title, I’m guessing you already know where I’m going. The good news—no, the great news—is that you are not a helpless bystander in this world, and you have the power to change.

“Yeah, Scott, but you don’t know my story.”

Nope. You’re right. I don’t.

Whether you’ve had one of the worst life stories the world has ever known, or you’re just a little down on your luck, you can start a new life right now.

Notice, I didn’t say you can change your environment or circumstances. While most can, some can’t. The reality is the only thing we have full control over changing is ourselves.

Do you want to change things, or do you prefer to hang on to your excuses and frustrations? The choice is yours.

Sharper Leader:

1.      Are frustrations or hurts hindering your enjoyment?

  • Action Step: Write down all your thoughts and feelings about them as thoroughly as possible. Now circle the ones you want to prevent your happiness. (Note: There shouldn’t be any circled.)

2.      Is a lack of knowledge, skills, or abilities keeping you from the life you desire?

  • Action Step: Ask for help. Search for resources. Begin reading or listening to inspirational stories. If you don’t know where to begin, pick a book from my recommended list.

3.      Is what you want to change, not an option?

  • Action Step: If you have something that is legitimately not an option to change, ask a trusted friend or mentor to help you change your attitude about it.
